CPSC, Arctic Cat Inc. Announce Recall of Off-Highway Utility Vehicles
The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Customers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Arctic Cat Prowler XT Off-Highway Utility Vehicle
Units: About 700
Manufacturer: Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn.
Hazard: The brakes on these vehicles can fail.
Incidents/Injuries: Arctic Cat has received notice of one incident of a brake pad dislodging from the rear caliper, and one incident of foot brake lever flexing. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The Prowler XT was produced in three colors: Green, Cat Green, and Red. The vehicles have the words Arctic Cat on each side of the cargo box, 650 H1 on each side of the front hood, and the name Prowler XT centered on the front of the hood. The recalled units fall within the vehicle identification range (VIN) of 4UF06MPV06T300001 through 4UF06MPV86T300781. Consumers only need to look at the final six digits of the VIN to determine if their vehicle is included in this recall.
Sold at: These vehicles were sold worldwide through Arctic Cat dealerships from July 2005 through September 2005 for between $9,000 and $9,500.
Manufactured in: Thief River Falls, Minn.
Remedy: Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately. If consumers are unsure if their Prowler XT is affected, they should contact Arctic Cat Consumers with the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the Prowler XT available. The vehicle identification number is located on the rear upper frame tube of the vehicle near the rear of the cargo box, and on the registration materials the consumer received at time of purchase. Consumers with a recalled Prowler XT should contact their local Arctic Cat ATV dealer to schedule the free repair. Registered owners have been notified about this recall by mail.

Name of Product: Kawasaki MULE utility vehicles
Units: About 400 units.
Distributor: Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., of Irvine, Calif.
Hazard: These vehicles could have been assembled with improperly manufactured steering knuckles that could break while the vehicle is in operation. This can cause a loss of steering control and cause a crash resulting in injury or death.
Incidents/Injuries: Kawasaki has received no reports of incidents or injuries.
Description: The recall involves Kawasaki MULE 3000 (KAF620-G), MULE 3010 4x4 (KAF620-E/H), MULE 3010 Trans4x4 (KAF620-J/K) and MULE 3010 Diesel Trans4x4 (KAF950-C) models. These are 4-wheel off-highway vehicles featuring side-by-side seating for two or four people, and automotive-style controls.
Sold by: Kawasaki dealers sold these MULE utility vehicles from August 2006 through September 2006 for between $8,800 and $10,800.

Hazard: The harnesses could fail during use, resulting in consumers falling from tree stands and suffering serious injuries or death.

Description and Models: The harnesses are tan or light brown and were sold as an accessory with the following tree stands or ladders: Viper X5, Goliath X5, Razor X5, Summit 180o, Bushmaster X5, Broadhead Backpacker, Bullet Backpacker, Clearshot, Openshot, and MegaSampson. Only harnesses with �Manufactured in 2005,� and �Made in China� printed on a label on the harness tether are included in this recall.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Big Foot Series and Lite Foot Series hunting tree stands
Units: About 78,000
Manufacturer: Rivers Edge/Ardisam, Inc., of Cumberland, Wis.
Hazard: If the strap mounting bracket loosens or rotates, the strap hook can release, causing the tree stand to detach from the tree. If this occurs, the consumer could fall to the ground.
Incidents/Injuries: Rivers Edge/Ardisam, Inc. has received three reports of consumers falling when their stands detached. Two of these consumers reportedly suffered serious injuries, including broken bones.
Description: The recalled Big Foot and Lite Foot Series hunting tree stands are �hang-on� stands that can be identified by a yellow warning label affixed to the stand that reads: �Rivers Edge Hunting Products.� These tree stands have dual post seat uprights and a gold-colored strap hook bracket. Only these model tree stands with the gold-colored bracket are included in this recall.
Sold in: Hunting stores and catalogs nationwide beginning in January 1998 for between $60 and $120. The tree stands were manufactured from January 1998 though July 2001.

Hazard: The j-hook attachment of the tree strap can fail, which can cause the tree stand to collapse. Consumers using these stands could fall and suffer serious injuries or death.
Incidents/Injuries: Primal Vantage Company Inc. has received three reports of j-hook failures. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recall involves two models of tree stands: the Ameristep Patriot Hang-On Tree Stand has model number 7300, and the Outfitter Hang-On Tree Stand has model number 7310. These products are fixed-position, strap-on tree stands. The UPC number of the model 7300 is 769524703001. The UPC number of model 7310 is 769524703100. The model number and UPC are not written on the tree stands, but can be found on the packaging.

Hazard: An internal clip may become dislodged and as a result, the clutch shoes
could be projected from the clutch housing and strike consumers, posing the risk
of injury.
Incidents/Injuries: Stihl has received no reports of incidents.
Description: The recalled product is a Kombi System Multi-Task Tool power head,
Models KM55, KM55R, KM55RC, FS55T or FS55RT. The recalled models, which have
"Stihl" printed on the engine head, have serial
numbers lower than 263868001 which can be found on the engine head. The product
is a power head that can be fitted with attachments for a variety of tasks,
including edging, trimming and sweeping.
Sold at: Authorized Stihl dealers for between $180 and $210. The FS models were
sold between October 2001 and October 2002 and the KM models were sold between
September 2002 and October 2004.

CPSC, Suzuki Announce Recall of Four-Wheel Drive Eiger ATVs
The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Eiger “QuadRunner” ATV by Suzuki
Units: About 240
Manufacturer/Importer: Suzuki Motor Corporation of Brea, Calif.
Hazard: Mislocated welds securing the upper front suspension arm mounting brackets to the frame. The mounting bracket could break off during riding, reducing rider control and resulting in loss of control of the ATV. Loss of control could result in a crash and severe personal injury or death.
Incidents/Injuries: No injuries reported.
Description: The 2004 model year four-wheel drive Eiger ATVs are affected by this recall. The model numbers are LT-A400FK4 (for automatic transmission) and LT-F400FK4 (for manual transmission). The ATVs with mislocated welds were produced from May 19 through May 25, 2004. The ATVs are red, yellow, or green.
Sold at: Suzuki dealers nationwide from May 28 through August 16 for $5149 (manual transmission) or $5299 (automatic transmission).

The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Customers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

* Some Bombardier 2003 Traxter® MAX; 2004 Traxter, Traxter MAX, Quest™ and Quest MAX; 2005 Traxter 5SP, 5SP MAX, CVT and CVT MAX vehicles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).
* Some John Deere Buck, Buck EX, Buck EXT, Trail Buck, Trail Buck EX and Trail Buck EXT, and Buck 500 Auto ATVs.
Units: About 23,000
Manufacturer/Importer: Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. of Valcourt, Quebec, Canada. John Deere branded units were distributed by Deere & Company of Moline, Illinois.
Hazard: Front brake hose can be pulled out of its retaining brackets on either side of the ATV by foreign objects. This can cause the brake hose to wear by rubbing on the inner wheel or shock absorber spring seat, ultimately causing a brake fluid leak resulting in a complete loss of front braking capacity. This can lead to an increase in the braking distance and possible collision with bystanders, fixed objects, or other vehicles, causing serious injury or death.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The 2003, 2004, and 2005 year models of “Traxter,” “Traxter MAX,” and “Quest” Bombardier ATVs are involved in this recall. In addition, the 2005 year models of “Buck” and “Trail Buck” John Deere ATVs are involved in the recall. These 4-wheel ATVs are red, green, yellow, or black in color.
Remedy: Free repair. Call a Bombardier or John Deere dealer to make an appointment to have your ATV repaired free of charge. Stop using your ATV until this repair is performed. All known owners of recalled ATVs have been notified.

CPSC, Polaris Industries Announce Recall of ATVs
The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Customers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Polaris “Sportsman 700 EFI” ATVs
Units: About 12,170
Manufacturer/Importer: Polaris Industries, Inc., of Medina, Minn.
Hazard: The throttle cable may bind when the handlebars are turned full left or full right, resulting in an increase in engine speed and unintended vehicle acceleration. In addition, the fuel line may rub against the vehicle chassis, resulting in a fuel line leak which could be a fire hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: There have been 19 incidents (including two minor injuries such as scrapes, bruises, and minor injuries to the leg, knee, and shoulder) involving the throttle cable binding which may cause the ATV to accelerate. There have been 31 incidents (but no injuries or fires) involving gasoline leaking from the fuel line rubbing against the chassis.
Description: All model year 2004 “Sportsman 700 EFI” ATVs with model numbers A04CH68CU, A04CH68AU, A04CH68AP, and A04CH68AQ are part of this recall. The model number is on the rear upper frame tube located directly under the right side of the seat. The ATVs have black seats with a grey, red, and black chassis. “700 Sportsman” is prominently displayed on the right and left side of the chassis, body and fuel tank, and “EFI” is displayed on the instrument/headlight pod.
Sold at: Polaris dealers sold these ATVs nationwide from March 2003 to August 2004 for between $7,899 and $8,899.
Manufactured In: U.S.A.
Remedy: Free repair. Contact your Polaris dealer to schedule an appointment to inspect, reroute, and replace the throttle cable and the fuel line as necessary. Polaris has notified consumers directly about this recall.

Name of Product: Kawasaki Prairie all-terrain vehicles (ATVs)
Units: 75,000
Manufacturer: Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp. USA, of Lincoln, Neb.
Hazard: The lower front suspension arm can separate from the steering assembly, resulting in a loss of steering control and posing a serious risk of injury to the rider.
Incidents/Injuries: Kawasaki has received 42 reports of incidents, including nine injuries, such as broken bones, bruising, scrapes, and lacerations.
Description: The recalled Kawasaki ATVs include both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive versions of the Prairie 300 and 400 units, with model years between 1997 and 2000. The ATVs come in green or red and have the words, "Kawasaki" and "Prairie" printed on each side of the vehicle, "300" or "400" printed on the left side, and ""4x4" printed on the side of the seat (for the 4-wheel drive models only).
Sold at: Authorized Kawasaki dealers nationwide sold the ATVs from September 1996 through December 2000 for between $4,500 and $6,100.

Polaris Industries Inc. Announce Recall of ATVs 11-12-03
Name of Product: Magnum, Trail Boss and ATP model all-terrain vehicles (ATVs)

Manufacturer: Polaris Industries Inc., of Minneapolis, Minn.
Hazard: Damage to the fuel tank grommet can cause a fuel leak, posing a serious fire hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Polaris has received 265 reports of fuel leaks, including one report of a fire that damaged an ATV. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recall involves the Polaris model year 2003 and 2004 Magnum 330 4x4 and Magnum 330 Mossy Oak ATVs and model year 2004 Magnum 330 2x4, Trail Boss 330, ATP 330, and ATP 500 ATVs. The recalled ATVs have the following model numbers, which can be found on the certification decal located on the front center body panel: A03CD32(AA)(AC), A04CD32(AA)(AB)(AC), A04CB32(AA)(FC), A04CA32(AA)(AB), A04JD32AA, and A04JD50(AA)(AB)(CA). The name "Polaris" is prominently displayed on the right and left side of the seat and/or on the side body panels.
Sold At: Authorized Polaris dealers nationwide sold the ATVs from February 2003 through October 2003 for between $3,500 and $6,500.

Bear Archery Has Recalled
Compound Bows Nov 01
Bear Archery LLC has recalled about
2,250 compound bows. The limbs of these bows can break during use, causing
impact injuries to consumers.
Bear Archery has received about 200 reports of these bows breaking during
use with reports of seven minor injuries, such as cuts and bruises to the
face and chest.
These are junior-sized compound Bear Archery bows sold under the model names
Warrior and Buckmaster/Warrior. They are camouflaged or black, and
"Warrior" or "Buckmaster" decals were included in the
packaging to put on the bows.
Hunting & sporting goods stores, mass merchants and catalogs nationwide
sold the bows from September 2002 through October 2002 for between $75 and
$100.
Consumers should stop using the recalled bows immediately, and contact Bear

Arctic Cat has received 73 reports of broken
front suspensions, 10 of which resulted in injuries to riders, including a
shoulder rotator cuff injury, and bumps and bruises.
The recalled 2002 model ATVs are either red or green. They have the brand
name "Arctic Cat" written on both sides of the vehicle. The recall
includes the following ATV model names: 250, 300, 300 Massey Ferguson, 375,
400, 400 i, 500, TBX 500 and 500i. Consumers should have their ATV's model
name and 13-digit model number available when they call or visit the firm's
web site to determine if an ATV is included in the recall. The model name is
located on the front of the ATVs, just below the speedometer. The model
number is included in the registration materials received at the time of
purchase.
Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide sold these ATVs from June 2001 through
June 12, 2002 for between $4,000 and $6,500.
Consumers should stop using these ATVs immediately. Registered owners have
been notified about this recall by mail. To determine if an ATV is part of

Consumers should have their ATV's model name and number available when they

Remington Arms Company, Inc.
is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Model 710 bolt-action
rifles;
as a result of its discovery, during routine test firing, that some
Model 710 rifles manufactured between July and October 2002 may have been
assembled with an improperly made "Safety Detent Spring." Although
unlikely, there is a possibility that the manual safety arm mechanism in
such a rifle could fail to fully return to the "safe" or
"on" position.

API treestand recall

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with
the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), API Outdoors of
Tallulah, La., a division of Outland Sports Inc., of Overland Park, Kan., is
voluntarily recalling about 9,000 treestands used by hunters. A cable that
secures the treestand to the tree can break, posing the risk of falls and
serious injuries to hunters.
API Outdoors has received two reports of the treestand's cable breaking,
including one person who fell from a tree and suffered leg abrasions.
The recalled treestands have the following brand names and model numbers:
API Hi-Point Cable Cat Climbing Treestand, Model #CC501 and API Buckmaster
Grand Slam Climbing Treestand, Model #GS3800BM. The treestands have an olive
green frame, camo seats and seatbacks with black nylon cinch straps, and a
yellow "WARNING" or "DANGER" label that reads in part,
"Safety Restraint Must Be Used At All Times." The treestands are
manufactured in Tallulah, La.
Retailers and distributors nationwide, including Wal-Mart, sold the Cable
Cat treestands through mid-October 2002 for about $180 and Cabelas stores
nationwide sold the Buckmaster treestands through mid- October 2002 for
about $230.
Consumers should stop using these treestands immediately and call API

Mossberg recalls a limited number of it's Model 695 bolt action shotguns.
