Appin Turnips

Appin forage turnip was bred for fast, vigorous establishment and quick maturity (60-100 days). It is firmly anchored in the ground for minimum wastage. Appin has a significantly higher proportion of leaf yield compared to other turnips, and is multi-crowned for improved re-growth potential. The high leaf-to-bulb ratio results in a very leafy crop with high digestibility.

Sow Appin at 1-3 lbs. per acre. Plant at 1/4" to 1/2" deep. Seed can be no-tilled into suppressed sod or seeded into a conventionally prepared seedbed.

 

 


Pasja Brassica

Pasja is an early maturing (50-70 days) hybrid forage brassica. It has been bred for rapid growth and high performance, with a high leaf-to-bulb ratio. Pasja can be used over a much longer period of time than the traditional rape cultivars. It has excellent re-growth ability and will provide good leafy summer feed.

A seeding rate of 3-5 lbs. per acre when direct drilled. 6-10 rate when broadcasted. There should be 60lb/acre of available phosphate for sowing brassica crops.

An annual that is closely related to English garden peas. The vines will get 5 feet long on good ground. Plant for deer & turkey. This crop will help build up the soil so fertilizer is not needed. Plant 30-40# per acre in fall. They will grow throughout the cooler months, but plant ryegrass, grain, & clover for added forage.


Chufa

Excellent for deer, turkey, & hogs. Chufas grow like peanuts except they don't have a shell. Wildlife will scratch and dig the plant up once they find the tubers which mature in 100-120 days. Plant 15-30# per acre in plots of at least 1/4 acre in April through late summer depending on location.

Rape is an annual vegetation that will attract deer and provide quality high protein forage to aid body and antler growth. This crop has been proven to be an outstanding deer attractant and gives deer what they need, when then need it. It can be planted with minimal ground preparation and still provide good results. Great  for those hard to get to spots. Recommended planting rate is 6 lbs per 1/2 acre. ( 1/2 acre = apx. 104'x208' ). Fertilizer as recommended with 12-12-12 at a rate of up to 100 lbs per 1/2 acre for optimum plant growth.
